Disadvantages:
  • Reduced ceiling height: This concern is especially true for buildings where the original ceilings are of a short height. A dropped ceiling plan would see the ceiling get lowered by around 5-8 inches. So it might not be the right choice for low ceilings.
  • Cosmetic covers: Many landlords use these tiles to their advantage in hiding damage to the original ceilings by cheap investment in these ceiling tiles. It is always wise to check beneath installed tiles before purchasing or renting a property.
  • Aging and fatigue: Ceiling tiles are prone to sagging and fatigue. They must be checked regularly and replaced from time to time. However they will last good for a few years without knocks or structural damage.
