How to Choose Durable external Shutters?

External Shutters that are made up of MDF look expensive but cost very less compared to other options like wood. However, care should be taken to ensure that external shutter made up of MDF is not exposed to rain. Exposing the shutter to rain causes the shutter to sag and swell.
  • External Shutters made up of vinyl is the most inexpensive. Usually these PVC shutters are hollow with edges that are unfinished and are enclosed with end caps.
  • They look like plastic and are usually yellow in color. In time, these External Shutters can be challenging to clean and maintain.
  • External Shutters made out of synthetic foam look a lot like wood but are relatively inexpensive. Typically, they are fire and water-resistant and are good insulators. These synthetic shutters are now considered the best option by homeowners, as they are denser than wood and are not easily stained.
In place of wood, faux wood acts as a good substitute because of its high degree of stiffness. This kind of wood is a good fit for wide or tall shutters.  They are inexpensive compared to regular wood and are available in different shapes, sizes, and colors. If these are made with poor quality, these shutters can fail over the passage of time.
